music nazis, party of one! the rob knows more about music than anyone on campus, and isn't afraid to remind you of it. lady gaga? lady, gag him! his favorite pastimes include listening to records, making lists, and being more enlightened than you. it sort of makes him unpleasant to be around, but nevertheless if you can stomach the stench of snobbery and creative entitlement, he'll actually teach you a thing or two.
ansley york was not born into privilege, but he had a decent childhood. his parents met in virginia beach while his mother was studying abroad from france. she went home pregnant and annie was born in paris. for the first few months his father had no idea about his existence and it wasn't until she started having financial difficulty that she brought annie's father back into the mix. as part of the deal for child support he wanted half custody of annie. when the boy was old enough his mother flew him to the united states to live with his father part time. for the school year he studied in paris and then on the summers he would live in virginia beach. the custody agreement worked for a while until annie's mother started to get sick. when she passed away annie moved to the states full time to live with his dad.
as annie got older, it became more apparent to him that his father had serious problems. the man was an alcoholic and a chronic gambler, which often left them scrambling for money every month. as soon as annie turned fourteen he got a work permit through his school and started into the work program. he went to class for the first three hours of the morning and then worked the afternoons. he also got a second part time job outside of the work program and started busing tables at night. most of annie's income went toward paying the bills that his father neglected so they could keep their power on or the water running. working as often as he did became increasingly difficult, so by the time he was nearing the end of his sophomore year he started looking for new places to live. they didn't have much choice but to move out of the house and into a smaller apartment. it was much more affordable and allowed him to live a little easier. as it stands, most of his time is still spent working at the record store in the afternoons and the restaurant at nights. when he isn't busy doing that he's busy organizing his record collection and making lists of all of his favorite things.
